The Reading Bridge Move & Read Program is a six-week long course that meets weekly for an hour-long, small-group experience where caregivers and young children ages 3-5 come together to learn, move, and read in a joyful, supportive setting. Each session blends music, movement, books, and play to build early reading foundations in ways that feel natural and engaging for young children. Through songs, guided movement, and shared book exploration, children are introduced to letters and sounds, learn how books work, and begin to understand simple story elements such as characters, plot, and new vocabulary. Conversations also gently support emotional awareness and social connection, helping children build confidence and developmental skills alongside literacy skills including the following:
• letter recognition
• early phonemic awareness (hearing and playing with sounds)
• vocabulary development
• print awareness (how books work)
• listening comprehension
• expressive language
• fine and gross motor coordination through movement
• social connection through shared play and conversation
Caregivers participate alongside their children throughout each session, learning simple, effective strategies for supporting early reading development at home. This shared experience strengthens connection, builds confidence, and offers caregivers a clear understanding of their child’s next learning steps—without pressure or the need for prior teaching experience.
