Empowering young readers. Building confidence.
The Reading Bridge supports children building reading skills and confidence at their own pace.
Sessions are designed to meet each child where they are — without pressure or comparison. Progress looks different for every child, and growth happens best when confidence is protected. Our vetted and trained teachers have a passion for teaching reading and helping facilitate student confidence. Fun, patient, and skilled, our teachers work 1:1 with your child to target their individual needs and ensure reading growth while increasing student confidence. At The Reading Bridge, we work closely with our teachers tracking your student's growth. Behind every Reading Bridge teacher is a team with your child's best interest at heart monitoring their growth and strategizing next-steps to meet your child's individual educational needs.
Our curriculum is targeted for your child to provide specific lessons building upon what they already know, focuses on areas of growth, and celebrates milestones of skill mastery. After an initial diagnostic screening session, our teachers and staff prepare an individualized educational plan to support your child's unique needs. Your child's educational plan is designed to strengthen skills through science based strategies. Repetition and frequent half-hour sessions create and strengthen new neural pathways for decoding letters, words, sounds, and meaning.
At The Reading Bridge, we understand that the process of reading is a complex action that involves creating strong neural pathways within the brain. Many children need additional support with this process. Yours is not alone. Developing proficient reading skills can be a challenging and difficult for new readers ages 4-12. Our teaching strategies combined with a science-backed curriculum removes frustration for readers and fosters a sense of self-esteem through SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound) that celebrate student success every step of the way. This builds student confidence, and keeps your child engaged in the learning process rather than avoiding challenges and obstacles to academic growth. Additionally, we are able to collaborate with your child's educators to ensure that we have the most up to date information about your child's reading and learning experience to best develop an IEP (individual Educational Plan) with holistic scope related to reading.
We understand the care and commitment it takes to support learning at home—and we’re here to help. The Reading Bridge supports students who learn from home, whether taught by parents and caregivers or through online schools. Since our Reading Bridge methodology and our curriculums are skill-based and highly individualized, we build on what your child is currently learning while spiraling back to skills needing more attention or leaping forward to skills your child is ready to master. Working collaboratively with your child's educators, our 1:1 sessions provide in-person additional guidance, build student/teacher rapport and mentorship, and assist your child in becoming an empowered and confident reader.
Reading is a very individualized process. A child who has mastered specific reading skills is often frustrated, distracted, or bored in school when their educational needs are not met. At The Reading Bridge, our teachers and staff are able to create IEPs (Individual Educational Plans) for students who are ready to move forward with additional next-level reading skills and strategies. This ensures that your child does not stagnate and disengage from the reading and academic process and maintains a joy-filled approach to learning.
We provide every child a safe and supportive environment while mastering reading skills and building confidence in their reading abilities. At The Reading Bridge our mission is to empower children with the necessary reading skills to thrive in their academic lives, personal lives, and future professional lives. Additionally, we also focus on positive self-esteem, navigating obstacles, resilience, goal setting, and time management.
We teach reading and academic scaffolding skills for critical thinking. We do not teach religious, political, or philosophical ideologies beyond being a positive community member, neighbor, and citizen, which are foundational topics of many early basal readers, reading passages, and texts. Our longer texts are approved by the Florida Department of Education.
